In the world of software engineering, the concept of "Leadership from the Inside Out" is fundamental.

John Maxwell has a theory about "Leadership from the Inside Out".

He believes that "when you are better on the inside, over time, you become greater on the outside".

An 'inside-out' leader embodies high integrity, authenticity, reliability, and strong values.

In his book "The Five Levels of Leadership", he shares five levels of leadership.

Position: people follow you because they have to.

Permission: people follow you because they want to.

Production: people follow you for what you have done for the organization.

People Development: people follow you for what you have done for them.

Personality: people follow you for your values.

We can rise to a level, but we never leave the previous one behind.

We build upon it.

We are not on the same level with every person, and this changes from relationship to relationship.

The higher we ascend, the easier it is to lead.

Our influence increases as we move to a higher level.

The higher we ascend, the more time and commitment it takes to improve.

It can take a lifetime to become a leader who develops leaders who, in turn, develop other leaders.

And finally, leveling up happens slowly, but descending can happen quickly.

In my mentoring program, I talk about this and a framework that helps with promotions and job improvement.

Write to me, and I will tell you how we can work together.
