Why job portals are not your best option

Why job portals are not your best option.

Don't get me wrong.

Job portals are not obsolete.

As anengineering manager, I would post job offers for at least 7 days to see whattype of candidates would come through the selection process and evaluatecandidates.

But I would generally do this after asking other developers:

Do you have someone you can recommend for this position?

It's nosecret that companies love referrals.

They want software developers whocan support a good cultural fit, skills, or reputation.

Moreover, studieshave shown that you tend to stay longer at a company when you enjoy your peersand have formed bonds.

That's why companies offer referral bonuses.

So there is always another good option to find the ideal candidate, even ifno referrals come in.

That's why I insist on personal branding andnetworking with decision-makers.

If you want me to help you work onthese skills, send me a private message.

And what do you think aboutworking on your personal brand and networking?
